30 Weeks... The Countdown is On!

Well, it's officially 9 weeks (or less) until we meet our sweet boy. We currently need to discuss more of his birth timeline with our doctors, as Madison suggested induction at 39 weeks, but our OB in Wausau is thinking close to 37 weeks. I want to do more research within the SOFT organization to see if there's any evidence to support a certain timeline for delivery, provided urgent medical intervention isn't needed.

If you know me, the idea of induction is not my cup of tea. Ryleigh was induced due to Premature Rupture of Membranes (PROM) and from her water breaking to delivery was 53 hours. I so desperately wanted a low-intervention birth, but due to the time it took, we had lots of intervention... Oliver's spontaneous labor was about 12 hours from first contraction to delivery, with Oliver's actual delivery taking one minute (I'm not joking, the nurse caught him!). Despite hemorrhaging afterwards, it truly was the ideal birth! This time around, however, we know we need our care team ready to go, so I am embracing that this situation is one of the reasons why we have medical inductions.

Some other care updates... We are still waiting to schedule a visit with the Wausau NICU team, and I'm not sure if that will happen sooner than the 12th, or on the 12th with our OB visit and non-stress test. After that, we have an appointment in Madison still scheduled for the 22nd as of now, and then weekly NSTs and appointments until delivery. Thankfully the doctor we are seeing in Wausau also is in Point on Thursdays, so they are trying to schedule what they can in Point to save me some time!

This weekend, I had a random realization. I turned to Josh and somewhat nervously stated, "We haven't purchased diapers." Which then led to a conversation about how complex it is to try to prepare for any of the outcomes in our situation. Do we set up the bassinet? Do we install the car seat bases? Could we handle coming home to a house prepared for a baby if we don't get the chance to bring Milo home? We try to remain optimistic, but these thoughts are still very real, and do weigh on our hearts often.

As I type this, Milo is wiggling around. I think he is enjoying the room he still has. He flips breech in the morning, and then around this time each evening, he flips back to head-down or transverse. He's still especially active in the middle of the night. This weekend, he was waking me up with how active he is. He continues to remind us that he's a fighter!

The last thing I wanted to share is our usual thank you. We have been blessed with the best village through all of this, and I really don't know where we'd be without each and every one of you. Thank you to those of you who reach out and check in, those who let me talk about Milo, those who are so invested in our sweet boy, and those who are sending love from afar. We truly are blessed with the best.

The countdown is on!
